JK, yes he played very heavy strings, typically 13 - 58 tuned down a half step. I have big strong hands and used to play 12 - 52 tuned down. I had to stop because it was tearing my hands up . . joint pain etc.
He and Jimmi Hendrix are my main influences

Big Fan here Flipper. I "discovered" Stevie only after he died, sadly. The Kult had big blinders on me at the time he was rising.
He inspired me to pick up a Strat again after 30 yrs or so of not playing. I have favorite songs for different reasons.
My favorite for his incredible tone has to be "Leave My Girl Alone" from his second ACL performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rVKiPNzPoY The tone he gets from that Strat is the holy grail for me, it's a never ending journey.

i have met quite a few folks from the forum, and between topics and posts about meeting so and so, and what is this person like, and the scandals, i felt kind of compelled to do a little mind dump on a topic about it and my experiences, and i hope no one thinks i didn't notice or remember them, these are just the most recent and those i am a bit closer to for one reason or another.
the last thing i would want to do is talk about someone when i don't know if they would mind or not...sorry if it happens here.. first, i had a person i respect a lot tell me she thought i was much more together in real life and was really suprised when she met me...that makes me wonder what kind of wreck i read like on here.
then it dawned on me, most of us post here as a release of things that aren't so great.
Dude, thanks for putting things in perspective. I was *this close* to signing off this place for the last time, not that anyone would notice. Mostly because of some of the mean spiritedness I have seen from some recently and the scandals (notice that I do not post much, but I do come here every day and I stay away from the BS posts and posters). I try to remove ALL of that stuff from my life these days if I possibly can. And here it is as easy as never coming back. But then I would miss the very same people (and others) that you mentioned before.
I have no life, I work too much, my job is very demanding. My only outlets are my music, my home, and this and two other DBs. It's just me, my lovely wife and two cats, i lost my family and friends to the Borg along time ago. This place has helped me come out of my shell a bit over the last few years.
So, I will stay, maybe get more involved and hopefully make friends with or meet some who are as wonderful as you have been blessed to meet.

Yep, Franklin, NH in the early 80's
3 teenage sons of PO and Elders. I was threatened with DFing if I reported it to the authorities. My own 2 year old daughter was one of the victims.
I will be ashamed of my lack of backbone then for the rest of my life.
i love new england... i always used to read nathaniel hawthorne on the front portch of my house in georgia when i was a kid and think that many of his characters were like jw's..... there's a place near the cape, called buzzard's bay, i used to sit there for hours eating "steamers" and drinking beer, and on the cape,what a beautiful place.... i love the southland, and will always live here, but i miss new england... .

that was like a home to me, i'd walk in the door and they'd always say, "hello mr. huff"... i'd get drunk at the local pub and be out there at the cemetery in the middle of town taking ghost photos at 12am.
dawg, I grew up in a small farm town north of Concord, NH in a 150 year old farmhouse on 200 acres. Went to school in a two room schoolhouse till I went to JH.
It was haunted. I experienced some weird shit there growing up.
Then I lived in Boston during the 80s, Used to hang out in Salem and Newburyport.
I Love NH, Just can't afford to live there.
I love it where I live now, Central NY, beautifual and affordable.
i've whatched this 3xs and would highly recommend it to all especially to those in the armed forces because of it's high moral value.. to me(po) i see the plot this way, our humanity's overpowering the state both in mind, and allegence.
bruce willis's part really displayed the inner turmoil that shear enormity of the cruelty when we put a face on it in human suffering as was done so well in the movie, one must disobey prime directives given by the "state".

I have that movie in my DVD collection.One of my favorites for just the reason you stated. Also good in that vein is Proof of Life.
